What's the project ? Well overall this next financial year, I want to increase my income from my Art. Mmmm, think I said that last year and then got majorly sidetracked with Upcycling stuff.
BACKGROUND
Anyway, for those not in the know, I am a resident artist at Emmaus Mossley. Emmaus Mossley is a community for previously homeless people. There are 24 companions who live at the mill, working in the Community, that recycles donated furniture and bric a brac. There is a massive showroom and a wonderful cafe. It's a good day out.
I run an Art group there and also run an UPcycling group ( a group of volunteers who come to Emmaus each week to Upcycle donated furniture and bric a brac.) Wonderful !
Emmaus lets me have an area in the showroom to display Art. I often put up my Daily paintings ( see my Pinterest boards ) and the work of the Art group. I want to develop this space this year. Emmaus
holds a few evening events each year that are themed. Our next one is on the 17 th March 2016, ' Changes ,' with , amongst other stuff ,an UPcycled clothing competition .
THE LITTLE LANDSCAPE PROJECT
It is just my intention to paint 50 little landscapes to go on sale as cards, for the event. Mmmm. Can't wait.had a start this afternoon, mixing landscape colours, trying out the small squares Ughhh ! Try again.
What do I want ? .....something interesting, contemporary, maybe using old papers as mounts, maybe using words/ poetry, maybe not using the same sized work .....Mmmmm
I often work with another piece of card underneath my current piece........then chop it up later...Mmmm
We are off with the landscapes. Went into Emmaus Mossley on Monday to the book section....got a few poetry books looking for poems about the landscape.....the idea really is to read the poems ( no mean feat in itself for someone who actively hated poetry at school and hasn't to my knowledge read any in the intervening years ! ) .... I looked really for any lines of poetry that resonated with me ......there were loads .... Mmmmm
' Happy the man .....Content to breath his native air ' The Quiet lIfe by Alexander Pope.
' Hours, days and years slide soft away....' The Quite Life by Alexander Pope....
' I heard a thousand blended notes,' Line's written in Early Spring ....William Wordsworth.
