Seascapes

Seascapes this week and next in the Art group. Will try to get enough to put a display up in the showroom. Title, at this stage, ' I must go down to the sea again....'

First artist Dion Salvador Lloyd. Love his work.

Below. A display of his work at the Saffron gallery. Lovely.

Below is the work of contemporary artist Chris Bushe

Chris Bushe compared to Dion Salvador Lloyd......work closer to the picture plane....calm and turbulence in the same picture.....more about the viscosity of the paint......more defied areas of colour.....strong...masculine .....placed.Mmmmmm.

So, some of my dailies could be seascapes or not as the case may be........what shall I paint today ? ......

Below ....just the prep for the Art group... Techniques used.....palette knife, thick paints for the waves, splattering, using a fan brush for blending and putting the paint down in kind of a stripe, painting over old unrelated paintings.......
Mine were awful this morning ....he ho....you can't win them all....I didn't want to paint seascapes anyway !

Dion Dalvador Lloyd......sea...texture...blending....sublime...tones...drama...strength...different sizes...depth/ distance...white mounts...masculine...strength....everything really. Mmmmmm.

  1. Lloyd's work reminds me of Niall Hanna's seascapes, I love the texture and presence of them.

Looking forward to seeing your interpretations of the sea!
